Message from the Chair
The members of the LUYL Society are people who believe in “giving back” and “paying it forward”. We have all at one time or another been the recipient of the kindness and generosity of others or support at a difficult time in our lives. And being aware of this, we realize the importance of sharing our time, and doing what we can to help those in need in our communities. The Directors and members of the LUYL Society have worked diligently, and with pride for nearly three decades, and we are grateful for the recognition we have received during that time. The awards and recognition are a testament to everything we are working to achieve, and we humbly accept them as incentive to continue doing what we can to provide enhanced support to all those who will benefit from our efforts.
What is Palliative Care?
Palliative care looks after the special needs of a person facing the end of life by providing comfort and support to the person, family and friends. Palliative care aims to ease pain and suffering and to sustain quality of life and dignity during a person’s final days. People sometimes think that palliative care is only for the elderly but the truth is that it may be needed by individuals of any age facing a terminal illness, including children.
How are funds used?
We purchase enhanced equipment and special services to help terminally ill persons living in their homes or in designated publicly funded facilities in the Tri-Community area of Parkland County, Stony Plain and Spruce Grove.
Equipment includes such items as:

- Bathroom equipment, such as special tubs, hygiene shower chairs and commodes
