The Joy of Spring and the Beauty of Fall for the enjoyment of Hospice patients and their families and friends. The LUYL Society hopes that this beautiful garden will flourish over the years and bring comfort and peace to all who spend time here. The Light Up Your Life Hospice Garden consists of 7 mature trees, 5 annual planters and a paved seating area with a beautiful red bench surrounded by a perennial garden. Partners in this project are Kiwi Nurseries, the Rotary Club of Stony Plain, the Stony Plain & District Health Centre Auxiliary and the Jodoin Foundation. Dedication of the garden September 14, 2017.

The Light Up Your Life Hospice Garden, July 2018:
Our beautiful Hospice Garden continues to “grow” in so many ways!
Phase II of the Light Up Your Life HOSPICE GARDEN was completed Summer 2018 … bringing the beauty, colour and joy of nature to the patients, residents, families and staff of WVHC Hospice and Continuing Care.
Phase II includes the re-design and planting of the large raised perennial bed and the revitalization of 4 gazebos, plus the installation of 3 more beautiful red benches, along with 3 large (2’x2’x2’) cement planters which will be used by Continuing Care Recreation Therapy and Residents for their yearly Spring planting. We are supported in this project by our many Community, Individual & Business Partners.
Four benches in total, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Stony Plain and the Korean Veterans Association. My name is Toby… “In Memory of My Faithful Human”. Design and Planting by Kiwi Nurseries, with support from Master Zen Gardener Cynthia Winfield Our wonderful Light Up Your Life Volunteer Gardeners keep the garden looking beautiful.
Official Dedication of the Garden
On Thursday, September 27, 2018 Phase II of the Light Up Your Life Hospice Garden at WestView Health Centre was officially dedicated to all those who have called Hospice “Home”.
Sharon Cornelius, Chair and Linda McCreath, Director spoke about the transformation of the area into a lovely, peaceful garden … bringing the joy and beauty of nature closer to the Hospice Patients, Continuing Care Residents and all their families … and the staff of WVHC.
The work on the Garden was contracted to, and completed by Kiwi Nurseries … and a wonderful team of Light Up Your Life “water-babies” volunteer their time to water, weed and care for the Garden. Community Partners for Phase I & II of this Light Up Your Life Project were: 100 Women Who Care, Rotary Club of Stony Plain, Kiwi Nurseries, Korean Veterans Association, Jodoin Foundation, Realtors Foundation of Edmonton, Stony Plain & District Health Centre Auxiliary, Beverley Churchill, and Cynthia Winfield.
The LUYL Society is committed to ensuring that the garden will flourish for many years to come, and that it will be a constant source of comfort and relaxation to all those who spend time there.

To date the LUYL Society has funded $270,000.00 to support the overall needs of Hospice. We welcome your support in the upcoming 2020 Light Up Your Life annual fundraising campaign which starts on Nov 1st.
