2025 Campaign

The 34th annual campaign to raise funds for palliative/hospice and continuing care in the Tri-Municipal Region officially begins in a few days, but LUYL’s hardworking volunteers do their part every day of the year. Check out changes to our Fundraising Campaign and Events page as we transition from 2024’s successful campaign to 2025. Once again, our fundraising goal is $100,000 and we know we’ll achieve that with your generous donations and participation in our events. Raffle tickets can already be purchased, and donation boxes are available throughout the region. Thank you so much for your ongoing support!

Garden Party 2025

It’s been 14 years since our Westview Hospice opened its doors. Since that time the Light Up Your Life Society has been instrumental in providing training and scheduling for our Hospice volunteers. They have dedicated their time to visit and support the patients and their families as they journey through a very difficult time in their lives. We also have a dedicated group of volunteers who care for the Hospice Garden – a space that the Light Up Your Life Society has created and funded to bring enjoyment and the beauty of nature close at hand for, not only the patients and families, but also the staff who visit the garden.

We currently have two wonderful groups of volunteers who make up our teams. And most of the time, like ‘ships in the night’ we don’t even see each other….but the garden continues to bloom and grow with our best efforts.

Please take some time, if you can, to join us on Sept. 26^th to meet the volunteers who give their time and support to Westview Hospice and Continuing Care.

Annual LUYL Raffle

Win great prizes while bringing comfort to palliative care patients in the tri-municipal region. We will have a raffle table set up every 2^nd Wednesday in the WVHC Cafeteria area for ticket purchase. The next date is Sept. 24th. And, of course, we are at the Stony Plain Farmers Market every Saturday.

Update re: the Light Up Your Life Solarium Legacy Project

Dear Light Up Your Life supporters,

We hope this message finds you well. We are reaching out to share an important update regarding the Light Up Your Life Solarium Legacy Project at Westview Health Centre, and the impact your generous support continues to have.

After several years of planning and fundraising, we have been informed by Alberta Health Services (AHS), Capital Management that the Westview Solarium Legacy Project will not move beyond the design phase. While we understand this news may be disappointing, we are deeply grateful for your unwavering commitment to the project and to enhancing palliative care in our community.

We want to assure you that all funds raised for the Solarium Legacy Project will continue to support our ongoing work in providing comfort, care and support to those in need in the Tri-Community area.

Your contribution is an essential part of our 34-year legacy of providing compassionate end-of-life care. We’ve raised over $2 million thanks to supporters like you, and we remain dedicated to ensuring that those facing end-of-life journeys and/or in continuing care receive the care and dignity they deserve.

Celebrating Our Volunteers

On January 31, 2025 we hosted our annual Light Up Your Life volunteer appreciation luncheon. Many thanks to all the helping hands that brought us to our fundraising goal for 2024!

It’s always an honour to share this lunch with the regions’ Mayors and Councils. Their continued support helps us advance the awareness of the importance of providing care and support to palliative/hospice residents in the Tri-community region.

Generous Donation from UFA

Sharon Cornelius, Chair of the Light Up Your Life Society gratefully accepted a $500.00 donation from Ken Wagner, UFA Delegate Spruce Grove.

This is the 33rd Annual Campaign for the LUYL Society. With this donation and those of many others we are confident in making and exceeding our goal of $100,000.00.

As a 100% volunteer-run organization, on average 95-97% of the funds raised each year are used to directly support palliative, hospice & continuing care in the Tri-Community area.
